Residential Buildings Stauferpark 302 and 303 in Göppingen
After the modernization and expansion of the buildings Stauferpark 311 and 312, the Wohnbau GmbH Göppingen commissioned Gaus & Knödler Architekten with the renovation of the building group 301 to 303.
These houses also part of a larger housing development for military personnel and their families up to the withdrawal of US armed forces in the nineties. The buildings measure about 80 meters each with a total of 18 apartments. This construction also included the key task of the complete refurbishment and renovation of the external appearance.
Thus, the building envelope in each case was technically updated with a thermal insulation composite system. Selected building elements are framed by bold colour patches, restructuring the building. Next, the roof was removed and replaced by an ecological green roof.
As a design variant Gaus & Knödler Architekten realised a “suspended” variant instead auf balconies built on stilts for one building: Steel beams, laid and dowelled to the attic, protrude and hold the reinforced concrete slabs of the individual balconies with tension rods. A light roof structure covers the upper balconies and combines them in one element.
